When you think about it, it is amazing how God connects with
people. My journey in this life and my relationship with my Father in
heaven is not a Cinderella story. Not an instant transformation
creating me to be a woman of astounding faith and character (complete
with a sparkling gown). In fact, in my current stage of life, as a wife
and a mother of two, I can identify with being a maid rather then a
princess.
My journey, thus far, has been a long subtle conversation; a series of questions responses, circumstances, and experiences. You’ll never guess who started this dialog though..it was God! It is amazing to reflect on the changes and challenges God placed in my path. Will you take a step in faith now? Will you seek My counsel here? I’m in this blessing: do you see Me? God would ask. Out of all the people in this world, God cares enough about me, little me, to ask these questions of my heart and provide an opportunity to connect with His astonishing love. Recently God has asked me: Will you join me in an adventure? I was quite hesitant. “But God” I asked, “am I not already serving and growing in my faith where I’m at?” There was no response, only the continued question from Him. Will you join Me? I analyzed the condition of my heart; I was involved in God stuff but not mentally engaged. My relationship with God’s people and God himself had become less than real and authentic. I was coasting through life, content to do the “God stuff” on my own time. The answer to God’s invitation to an adventure should have been an obvious yes, given my current condition of faith, but the answer was more difficult. It meant leaving the comfort and ease of my religious traditions. Once I finally resolved to accept His invitation, God continued to reaffirm my decision. Do you see Me? He would ask. I am at work here. Come and seek My face and I will reveal Myself and this adventure to you. God continues to reveal His plan, in this fairy tale story understood as my life, and I’ve accepted His invitation, but my sparkling gown of perfected faith and character is many decades ahead. However the immediate anticipation and hope this divine adventure brings is quite captivating – especially since it is so personal and empowering. God wants me, little me, and my wee faith, to participate in something grander as part of his kingdom. This adventure I’m speaking of is a community of believers called Watershed. I invite you to take some moments to retrace your journey. When did God whisper to you last and where is He inviting you to now? |
