Two words: Relationships, Service. These two words are a big part of
why I am a part of watershed. God has been in relationships longer than
any of us. He made people and began a relationship with us. He reaches
out to everyone, inviting them to know him better and to live with him.
When we choose to go our own way, God continues to love us and call us
to be in relationship with him. I need a relationship with God. I need
to learn how others relate to God, how they do it day by day, what
their relationship with him looks like. I need to be in relationship
with others because I need others to laugh with, cry with, enjoy life
with, share struggles with, etc. This is all part of who I am at my
core--I am made to be in an intimate relationship with a loving God and
in caring, loving relationships with others.
I also see God as the most hands-on, willing-to-get-down-and-dirty
being out there. He creates the world; creates humans to eat and enjoy
the world he made; walks and talks with them. When the first humans
rebel (just like me), he makes clothes for them; keeps loving them and
then makes a way for us all to be in relationship with him--Jesus. The
ultimate act of service I can find is that Jesus left perfect heaven to
come to not-so-perfect earth because he loves me. Because of his love
of me, I want to serve others. If God loves people so much to die for
them, I can love them enough to serve them. Watershed is a place to be
together and to serve together--because God has made us for him and
others. I want to be a part of it.

"I am watershed"
“I am watershed” is more than a catchy slogan. It means we are the church.
Church is more than something we do on Sundays. It’s something we live
every day. Through our daily activities, spiritual disciplines, and the
relationships we develop with others, we figure out what it means to
follow Jesus and live life with God. In our neighborhoods and other
life circles, we have relationships that can go so much deeper than the
superficial. Church isn't just someplace we go...it's something we
are. It's a place that's open to all kinds of people, from all kinds
of places in life. There's a place for you at watershed, too.
