A Fresh Start

I’m a very consistent golfer. When my friends play I usually feign some sort of interest in order to be one of the guys. However as soon as the ball is teed up, it becomes clear that I bring a unique skill to the game. I can consistently shank the ball 20 yards to the right every time, no matter what club I’m using. I know where I want the ball to go, it just never goes anywhere near there.

I used to hope for a do-over, or a Mulligan, as real golfers call it…a chance to try my drive again. But, with time, I’ve learned that no matter how many times I hack away with my golf club, the results continue to be the same - a frustrated Jeff and everyone else wondering “Who invited this guy?”

Have you ever experienced life the way I experience golf? Have you ever wanted a do-over - a fresh start? Do you ever have a sense that you know where you want your life to go, but it just never seems to go anywhere near there, or at best would require a whole lot of hacking away?

As the watershed family regroups for the fall after a busy summer, I’m excited to explore these thoughts together, and see how the way of Jesus might enable us for life’s journey.

We’ll start the conversation this Sunday at 10am at MARC Stoughton. We’ll have coffee & light breakfast food beforehand, and share lunch together on the last Sunday of each month.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been able to join us, I’d like to invite you to connect again this weekend, as we have a fresh start this fall - learning to follow Jesus together.
